TRUTH FOR TODAY

Glenn E. Hawkins, Evangelist

BAPTISM AND THE BLOOD OF CHRIST [3]

According to Matthew 26:28, Jesus shed His blood "for the remission of sins." That same phrase "for the remission of sins" is used by the apostle Peter on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2:38 when he told inquiring people what to do to be saved. "Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins." The blood of Jesus was shed for the remission of sins and we are baptized for the remission of sins. When we are baptized, then the blood of Christ saves us from our past sins. We are not baptized because our sins are already forgiven, but in order to be forgiven. (more next week)
