TRUTH FOR TODAY

Glenn E. Hawkins, Evangelist

BAPTISM AND THE BLOOD OF CHRIST [2]

The church is the body of Christ. Christ is its head and Savior (Ephesians 5:23). According to Acts 20:28, Jesus purchased the church with His own blood. Therefore, those in the church have been saved by the blood of Christ. But how does one get into the church, the body of Christ? It says in 1 Corinthians 12:13 that we are "baptized into one body…" Thus we see the connection between baptism and the blood of Christ. When we are baptized, it is at this point that the blood of Christ is applied and cleanses us from sin. Since Christ saves only those in His body, we must make sure that we are in that body – the church. (more next week)
