TRUTH FOR TODAY

“MEN AND BRETHREN, WHAT SHALL WE DO?” 
This important question posed by Jesus on Pentecost is a question that deserves an answer because it relates to the forgiveness of sins. Peter’s answer to the question is found in Acts 2:38. “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Two things were necessary to receive the remission of sins: (1) repent, and (2) be baptized [immersed]. Both were necessary. It is not repentance alone or baptism alone. When one believes that Jesus is the Son of God, he must then repent and be baptized in order to obtain the remission of sins.
