TRUTH FOR TODAY
Glenn E. Hawkins, Evangelist
BY FAITH
Paul wrote in Ephesians 2 that a man is saved by faith and not by works. James wrote in James 2 that a man is justified by works and not by faith only. Is there a conflict? NO! Paul and James were discussing two different kinds of works. Those works excluded by Paul are works one might glory or boast in. The works included by James are those that perfect or complete the faith, such as obedience to the commandments of God. No one was ever saved by faith only or faith alone. You are saved by faith when that faith causes you to repent of sins, confess Jesus as Godís Son, and be baptized for the remission of sins (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Romans 10:9-10).
